In May 2006 Cyclovia saw the closing off of Sydney Road to cars. For one morning the road opened up and breathed to pedestrians and cyclists. It was an incredible sight as the raod swarmed with celebrating people. Val and I helped a friend at one of the many free bike repair stations set up along the road. It was such a fabulous experience that we continued to do it every sunday after that. What better way to learn about bikes than on someone elses?
Bike Fix can be found at the Canning Street end of the Carlton Gardens most Sunday afternoons. Sometimes it is just Val and I, other times there is a whole host of mechanics who bring different skills to the grassy verge. Bike Fix is free and does not accept donations (although we have never said no to the odd beer).

Bike Fix would like to send lots of happy cycling to:
Cathy and Chris of the infamous Ron D Swan for making our canvas Bike Fix sign after we nearly beheaded them with our old MDF sign on a windy day.
The Direktor of The Institue for Sensible Transport whose funds provided us with 2 x 15mm ratchet spanners. (AKA The Institue 15's)
Mr Justin Mansfield of Kensington who designed and printed our glorious Love your bike and your bike will love you back sign.
Hari. Whose funds provided us with 2 x 10 mm ratchet spanners. (AKA The Hari 10's)
Mr Paul Shub who provided us with a lock ring spanner. (AKA The Paul Tool). Mr Shub also hand built the Bike Fix trike which we haul all our stuff to Bike Fix with.
Mr Bill Bretherton and Mr Joel Mayers of Human Powered Cycles who have provided us with innumerable second hand parts (not to mention the odd new bit too).
May the Goddess of Cycling continue to bless our hard rubbish finds and our "quick quick! it's bin night at the local bike shop" booty.
